Nature’s Detoxification Herbs

Nature’s Detoxification Herbs

Living a healthy lifestyle can require us to go against unhealthy societal norms. I believe that God desires us to look to nature to provide the resources for our health and well-being. I am convinced that it is part of His perfect design.

Unfortunately, our society has been indoctrinated by the Pharma culture to look to man-made interventions and treatments. These treatments rarely get to the root cause and always have numerous unwanted side effects.

An Imbalance

Did you know that symptoms are a sign of an imbalance in your microbiome? Fortunately, healthy lifestyle changes often prompt the body to respond positively and correct these unwanted imbalances.

How wonderful that nature gives us amazing, all natural detoxification plants. These supportive herbs care for the bodies two major detox organs, the liver, and the kidneys. Herbs like milk thistle, chlorella, garlic, turmeric, dandelion root, burdock, and natural fibers like bentonite clay.

Milk Thistle

Milk thistle works to support the liver. It assists healthy cells from free radical damage. This amazing plant subdues inflammation along with supporting healthy bile flow. It acts as a kind of mop to toxins. Glutathione is known as the “ mother-of-all” antioxidants and milk thistle helps support the production of glutathione.

Chlorella

Chlorella is a personal favorite of mine. When I had my amalgam fillings removed by a biological dentist (due to the poisonous mercury in the amalgam), I used this herb to support my body’s detox pathways. Chlorella eliminates toxins and grabs onto mercury. When used in concert with bentonite clay, these two act like a tag-team, safely removing the unwanted toxic metal from the body.

Garlic

Garlic has been known for its detox support by many ancient people groups. Interestingly, early Egyptians used garlic medically for thousands of years. They believed that it protected them from the black plague. Chopping and crushing fresh garlic activates a powerful allicin compound. Consuming it eliminates all kinds of unfriendly organisms in the gut. It supports both the liver and the kidneys by doing away with a whole host of nasty free radicals.

Turmeric

This herb is all the rage today due to its anti-inflammatory an antioxidant properties. Turmeric is known for its beautiful bright orange color. Turmeric is an ancient Indian spice that is known for the powerful medicinal compound called curcumin. This spice combined with Bioperine (black pepper) becomes a powerful herb having a special affinity to support the liver. Turmeric increases the production of bile by over 100 percent. Bile is essential to break down essential fats in the body. Without sufficient bile production, the body will have difficulty absorbing any of the fat-soluble vitamins like A, D, E, and K.

Dandelion Root

No, dandelion is not simply a pretty childhood flower or pesky yard weed. It is an amazing support to both the liver and the kidneys. Herbalists believe that dandelion root assists in flushing from the body many antagonistic toxins. It’s also known to assist in protecting against nasty, painful, kidney stones. In Chinese medicine, dandelion root is used to treat ailments like acne, eczema, diabetes, and many gastrointestinal disorders.

Burdock

Not many people have heard of this herb. Burdock is delightfully ripe with fructo-oligosaccharides or FOC’s.  These are known to be prebiotic which act as food for probiotics. Unwanted pathogens often build up in the lining of the gut wall. The FOC’s in burdock is known to eliminate these bacterial pathogens. Burdock supports bile and saliva’s enzymic secretions assisting in the breaking down and the binding of toxins.

Bentonite Clay

Our bowels need support to remove toxins. During a targeted detoxification process the toxic load will increase and shift considerably inside the bowel. Bentonite clay is used to assist detoxification acting like a wet mop. The clay holds onto these toxins to directly eliminate them by way of a bowel movement.

Most of these herbs can be found naturally at health food stores. Some can be found as teas or conveniently in supplemental form. All are useful in detoxification.

I believe that God intended us to live a life of well-being and vitality. By looking to His creation for the answers to our health objectives, I am certain we will find the key to vitality and wellness.
